why did nabisco stop making ideal cookies?

Nabisco, please bring back my most favorite cookie of all times. I dream of these cookies. Millions of other chocolate coated cookies survive shipping and storage - and I guess that most of us would still want them even if the chocolate was melted! Please bring them back. See. Had to google it and found this thread. Funny that ideal cookies are one of the few things I recall from my early years. I enjoyed reading everyone's comments - these cookies were the BEST and I can still remember their taste. I want them back too, they were my favorite. I think what made these cookies so incredible was the crunchy cookie portion of it, the peanut butter filling which had finely chopped peanuts in it, and the EXCEPTIONAL quality of the chocolate that enrobed this cookie. We ate alot of Ideal cookies back in the day. Please we need to unite and get Nabisco to bring the Ideal bar cookie back. (sigh) Why Nabisco why? Whoever bought it or felt the need to make a change . Wow, I had no idea "THEY" were gone forever, I thought they were just lost. I snuck them down and proceded to eat every single one of them in that brown, orange, and see- through wrapper. 1985 Nabisco Brands merges with R.J. Reynolds. The assortment packs included several types of cookies and were marketed for families or parties because of the variety they offered. OMG!!!!! Oh what i wouldn't give for an Ideal cookie! My best guess why Nabisco quit making them is that they were too expensive to produce; in order to maintain the high quality of the product the retail cost would be unrealistic. Intended to imply hydrogen and oxygenthe two chemicals that make up waterthe result has a more clinical, less roll-off-the-tongue convention to it, and instead evokes hydrogen peroxide, a chemical you probably dont want to drink. You have to keep them refrigerated because the chocolate will melt. Once this decision is made, we stop making the product and the remaining supply is shipped from our warehouse to the grocery stores. Love them and really wish they would bring them back the SAME as the were! In the past 10 years or so I have not found them and about 2009 time frame I asked Nabisco what happened and they said that they stopped making them totally. Maybe they didnt make enough profit or something. But the cookies design, which was initially sold with an exotic English biscuit twist, was pretty interesting for its era: With an industrial press from a mold, the cookie took on the look of a flower.
